BioAsia 2015 has partnered with Indian Medical Association (IMA) and TiE (The Indus Entrepreneurs) a non-profit global network of entrepreneurs and professionals for expanding digital healthcare in India. This is a first – of - its kind initiative from BioAsia and possibly from the biotechnology arena aimed towards expanding the potential of digital healthcare in the country.

To this effect, the digital health and healthcare IT conference that is going to be held during the BioAsia conclave in Hyderabad will enable technology professionals, entrepreneurs, investors and medical practitioners amongst others; to interact, present ideas, explore solutions and improve healthcare.

As per the partnership TiE and IMA will help BioAsia to design the content and interactive modalities, to spread the potential of this opportunity to its member base, engage with the start up community and doctors to participate in the initiative. Speaking on the partnership, Shakthi Nagappan, CEO of BioAsia says, “Information technology and digital healthcare holds high promise in enabling solutions for improving human health. On one hand the usage of mobile phone is increasing rapidly and on the other doctors has increasingly started using mHealth apps to engage with patients as well as in their daily practices. The start up ecosystem across the country is very vibrant and we have witnessed several innovative companies that have been built on an idea. The event will bring together the global thought leaders, medical practitioners, start up community, investors, tech companies, and other stakeholders on a single platform to explore opportunities and contribute to the overall cause of improving healthcare through discussions, idea sharing and enabling innovations. IMA and TiE are uniquely placed to partner BioAsia in helping meet this objective.”

According to a recent study, India’s healthcare information technology market is expected to hit $1.45 billion in 2018, three times more than the $381.3 million reached in 2012.  Keeping this in view, the BioAsia conference is expected to discuss on challenges of Indian Healthcare delivery environment and inadequate infrastructure. Role of IT and mobile technologies such as virtual reality, cyber surgery, micro-robotic surgery and 3D modelling along with role of big data analytics and Indian Space Research Organisations will also be discussed at the IT healthcare conclave.

Leveraging new technologies like cloud, social media, analytics and mobile to innovatively bridge the reach of healthcare and make it reach the remotest corner of the country is very important. Digital health event during BioAsia will help in realising the enormous potentials and growth opportunities for the country and the State of Telangana.

“By partnering with BioAsia 2015 we are offering another platform for our startup ecosystem to explore the possibilities in the healthcare domain. One of focus areas in the track is data analytics where the startup community can contribute significantly, “said Murali Bukkapatnam, president, TiE Hyderabad while commenting on the tie-up with BioAsia.
