CDRI to organise symposium on 'clinical research' on Dec 3-4 in Lucknow

The Central Drug Research Institute (CDRI), Lucknow and the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) in collaboration with Medical Council of India (MCI) and Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) is organising a national symposium on 'clinical research, good clinical practice, pharmacovigilance and newer issues in ethics and regulatory requirement in new drug applications and clinical trials.

The two-day event, which will be held on 3rd & 4th December 2014 in Lucknow, will be a good brain storming event for the pharmaceutical industry as currently the clinical research in India is in transition period. The regulatory authorities and ethics committees are asking authenticated certificates of update from investigators.

The scientific sessions will deliberate on the broad areas like important issues in clinical research; regulatory requirement in new drug applications and clinical trials; issues in herbal, neutraceuticals clinical research; good clinical practice guidelines; newer issues in ethics in clinical trials and basic research; biostatistics; and pharmacovigilance.

The CDRI is one of the premier institutes of the CSIR of India headed by the Prime Minister as its president. It is considered to be a pioneer research organisation in the field of drug development and biomedical research where all the infrastructure and expertise are available to develop a drug right from its concept to market. The institute has contributed in the development of 11 out of 16 new drugs developed in India.
