CIPMMA to train pharma marketers in business development skill

The Consortium of Indian Pharmaceutical Manufacturers & Marketers Association (CIPMMA), as part of the sixth general body meeting, will organise a workshop on business development skill for the pharma marketers on June 23 at Trichy.

The one-day programme will be inaugurated by M K Chandrasekharan, assistant drugs controller at Trichy in the morning. In the after noon session, a special lecture will be delivered on “Pros & Cons of National List of Essential Medicines 2013” by the president of the Association. The session will be chaired by A Karunaikadal, chairman of CIPMMA and the managing director of Beeline pharmaceuticals.

Sources from the Association said since their members are mainly the marketers, they face stiff competition in the market, hence they need to be trained and educated on how to overcome the situation. So, more importance is given for developing the entrepreneurial talents rather than on scientific sessions.

Shailesh Patil, managing director of Mumukshu Health care Pvt Ltd will conduct the workshop on “Entrepreneurial Essentials to Succeed and Scale Up….Getting into the Top League”.

CIPMMA, a splinter group of the Tamil Nadu Pharmaceutical Manufacturers’ Association (TN PMA), claims strong foothold in the southern part of the state, and is centred in Tanjore with a registered office in Chennai. Last year, the fifth AGM was conducted in Chennai where 40 members of TN PMA had attended it with full support. This year, CIPMMA expects more members from the manufacturers association to the meeting, an office-bearer of CIPMMA said.

A Kannan, president of the organisation said most of the members are manufacturers of branded pharmaceutical products and they market their products by themselves. However, a few members still possess membership with TN PMA.
