Citizen's Hospital hosts ‘TCT India Next 2014’ for interventional cardiologists in Hyderabad

The Citizen’s Hospital in Hyderabad recently hosted a 3 day academic event called ‘TCT India Next 2014’. The programme was mainly aimed at training and educating interventional cardiologists about the advances in the cardiology segment.

The academic event which was organised at Hyderabad international convention center focused on Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics (TCT) or minimally invasive approaches against the traditional approach of making large incisions to access areas of the heart manually. Renowned interventional cardiologist Dr. Martin B. Leon, director, Columbia University Medical Center, New York & Course Director of TCT Conference, delivered the keynote address at the inaugural session on "Past, Present and What to Expect for the Future."

About 1500 delegates from across India participated in the 3 day conference. Eminent faculty and specialists in cardiology from across the globe highlighted the significant developments and advancements coming up in the interventional cardiology. They shared new techniques, best practices and the latest minimally invasive approaches to cardiac care. Speaking at the inaugural session Dr. Sreenivas A. Kumar, Founding Course Director and Chairman of Cardiovascular Sciences and Chief Cardiologist at Citizens Hospital, said, “Overall the TCT India Next 2014 has given a good platform for the doctors, especially cardiologists to learn new treatment techniques and showcased the next generation treatments techniques for our cardiologists.”

Dr. Sushil K Kodali, Founding Course Director, TCT from Columbia University Medical Center, New York said, “We are replicating the TCT program hosted in USA for the past twenty five years, here in India. It will hugely benefit the Cardiologists community in India.” Meanwhile Dr. R.P. Raju, founding director & executive vice chairman, Citizens Hospital, announced the launch of world class cardiac care at Citizens Hospital. “The latest cardiac care available anywhere in the world will be offered at Citizens Hospital henceforth,” he added.
