Clove Dental, a member of the Royal Society of Medicine, UK and Delhi NCR’s largest dental network, has worked out an expansion plan to cater to oral health needs of all age groups. The chain has so far invested Rs.110 crore received from leading dentists in UK and US.
The five year-old Clove Dental, based out the Delhi Northern Capital Region (NCR) opened its 52nd clinic to emerge as the country’s fastest growing dental chain.
With close to 90 per cent of the Indian population having some sort of dental issue that needs attention, and with only 10 per cent actively seeking dental care, the importance of promoting oral healthcare across all age groups cannot be ignored, Amarinder Singh, Founder & CEO, Clove Dental told Pharmabiz.
With the increase in branded healthcare systems, there is substantial evidence that quality healthcare can be achieved at a reasonable cost. Currently, dental care in India is highly fragmented and is typically dispensed by conventional, stand-alone clinics with the standard of service provided varying widely.
The market is characterized by a gross imbalance in the distribution of clinical skills across urban and rural areas. In 2013, the dentist-to-population ratio in urban areas was 1:10,000, whereas rural areas have one dentist serving a population of roughly 250,000 people in the same year.
With over 150 dedicated dentists in the Clove network, its 52 clinics have created a oral healthcare infrastructure for India to provide affordable and high quality dental advice, he added.
“Being situated in the Delhi NCR and Chandigarh Tri-city areas, the opening of our 52nd clinic enables establishing a stronger presence in North India. Moreover as a network of dental clinics, we are better poised to achieve economies of scale that individual clinics cannot. This allows us to bring the latest equipment, technology and comprehensive range of treatments &services to all our patients, in a standardised manner. Further, we are only Indian healthcare organisation to have been given a membership to the Royal Society of Medicine”, UK, he said.
Innovations in technology have certainly resulted in a drop in the rate of dental disease. They have also led to a paradigm shift in dentistry. These innovations have altered the patient experience and patient expectations are changing as a result, for instance the concept of painless dentistry which contributes to a reduction in dental disease.
The Wand – Single Tooth Anesthesia system which is imported from the US is an advanced injection technology that allows the dentist to deliver anesthesia exactly where it is needed, for a significant reduction in treatment-related pain. Dental technology has also encouraged a preventive rather than a curative approach in clinics.
Other dental chains, include Axiss Dental in NCR and Bengaluru besides MyDentist in Mumbai. But in North India, we are the largest dental chain 52 clinics and 150+ dedicated Clove team of dentists which is perhaps the largest in the country, said Singh.
