Conference on Pharma & Traditional Medicines to be held in Singapore from Sept 12-13

The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FICCI), under the direction of union ministry of commerce and industry, is organizing a Conference on Pharmaceuticals & Traditional Medicines and Allied Industries in Singapore during September 12-13, 2011.

As Singapore is a major destination for Indian Pharma products, the forthcoming conference holds a great deal of importance for the Indian pharmaceutical industry. During the financial year 2010-11, India’s pharma exports to Singapore have increased to US$ 120mn, showing a significant growth of 116 per cent.

Many industry experts and members from across the industries are expected to participate in the two-day event. The business session of the conference is expected to have a discussion on the topic—Opportunities in Pharmaceuticals and Allied Sectors. The event is going to be marked by the presentation on “Overview of Singapore Biomedical Sciences Industry” by the Singapore Economic Development Board. Further it is expected to be followed by Presentation on “Overview of Pharmaceutical Industry in India” by Indian Industry.

The Health Science Authority of Singapore is expected to give an overview of Medicinal Product Registration under Comprehensive Economic Co-operation Agreement. Further it is also expected to have a presentation on ‘Generic Product Registration’ under Comprehensive Economic Co-operation Agreement.

The session would also have a discussion on “Indian Regulatory Process on registration of Pharmaceuticals in India” a presentation from Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI).

Other major point of discussion at the conference would be possibilities of cooperation between India and Singapore in Pharmaceutical and Allied sectors.

“Keeping in view of importance of the present market scenario, we have requested all our member companies to participate in this event,” said, Dr P V  Appaji, executive director, Pharmexcil.
