DIA to conduct two-day medical writing conference on June 16 and 17 at Mumbai
The Drug Information Associates (DIA) India will organise a two-day medical writing conference on June 16 and 17, 2017 at the JW Marriott, Juhu Mumbai. The theme of the event is ‘Exploring the Scientific Art of Medical Writing: Blending Complexity with Simplicity'.
The programme highlights the fine art of publication writing. It will cover ethics and data transparency, building a medical writing business, tracking the safety continuum and challenges and best practices in authoring regulatory documents.
The keynote speakers are Vijaya Raman-Chandra, Senior Director, Head of Global Medical Writing & CTA, Biogen and Michael Penlington, Global Head - Science Writing, GSK Vaccine.
The program chair is headed by Nimita Limaye, CEO, Nymro Clinical Consulting Services. The programme committee has Ashwini Patil, Independent Consultant and Expert, Publication Writing, Roopa Basrur, Senior Director, Medical Writing Services, Parexel, Bindu Narang, Head, Regulatory Affairs and Aggregate Safety and Risk Management Practice, Sciformix, Pooja Phogat, VP, Head of BD and Technical Lead, Development Operations, Kinapse and Rajesh Kher, Head of Outsourcing Partnership Management in the Capabilities group of Integrated Data Analytics and Reporting (IDAR), J&J.
The topics for deliberations include Challenges and Best Practices in Authoring Regulatory Documents for the session 1 which will be chaired by Rajesh Kher. This will be followed by the session 2 which will have a panel discussion on ‘How structured and lean writing will change the medical writing practices.’ The session 3 will begin with the topic ‘Tracking the Safety Continuum’ which will be chaired by Bindu Narang.
The second day of the event will begin with The Fine Art of Publication Writing. The session 4 will be chaired by Ashwini Patil. Session 5 will focus on The World of Ethics and Data Transparency: Is it finally about the Patient? The session chair is Pooja Phogat. Under the session 6, there will be a panel discussion on Building a medical writing business chaired by Roopa Basrur. The event will conclude with a Student Panel Discussion – ‘The 3 C’s that count for every young Medical Writer – Competency development and lateral moves, Career opportunities and Challenges associated with medical writing moderated by Sofia Baig, Practice Lead, HEOR, PRMA & RWE, TCS.
According to Manoj Trivedi, Senior Manager, Business Development, DIA (India) as the world becomes more complex, writers struggle to play a fine balancing act between dealing with more complex challenges such as authoring complex protocols among others.
