DMAI to meet policy makers on Sep 28, may push for PPP model in health care
In a strategic move to strengthen the health care system of the country the Disease Management Association of India (DMAI) for the first time in collaboration with major health care giants will be having a high level interaction with policy makers in Delhi. The meeting which is expected to be held on September 28 is aimed at deliberating on ways to improve the health care delivery system in the country so as to make it efficient and universally accessible to all citizens.
The meeting aims to discuss on the various health care issues that is affecting the delivery of proper health needs and accessibility in the country , with key focus on finding a solution to address this issue at large. It is understood that key focus will be given on exploring health care activities through public private partnership (PPP) model for efficient and timely delivery of services.
“Timely access to high quality health care needs is a major issue that needs to be addressed at the earliest as only a healthy country can aid in the growth of the nation. We have to develop a system that is fool proof and based on more corporate culture than bureaucratic culture as it it will help in carrying out all the all the health care related work in a far more efficient and organised manner which is not practiced today.”
He pointed out that over the years, health care needs have taken a top priority in almost all the major government decisions, with the centre announcing many potential policies for the growth of this sector. However, Gupta added, “In-spite of the numerous policies announced by the government it did not create the required impact as expected on the sectors as they were not successfully implement due to lack of a well executed plan what we require is a proper authoritative body to ensure that this plans are executed properly for better results and this is where the role of PPP comes.
DMAI stressed that to propel the growth of this sector and to ensure successful implementation of all the government policies there need to recognise and encourage PPP model in the country, where the private companies can play a major role in executing the policies properly. Association stressed that PPP in health care is essential as it will bring accountability and corporate culture into execution of all the government sponsored work.
Top CEO's from different genre of health care will be deliberating and putting forth their ideas to the policy makers to help them in administrating and implementation the policies successfully across the country. Sam Pitroda, advisor to the prime minister, Keshav Desiraju, additional secretary, health & family welfare, Dr K Srinath Reddy, chair , high level expert group on universal coverage & president , public health foundation of India and Anil Swarup, director general and joint secretary, ministry of labour and employment will be addressing this meeting.
