Doctors’ camp boosts renewed confidence among young aspiring doctors at Yashoda
The 5th edition of young doctors’ camp held at Yashoda Hospital in Secunderabad from 11-14 May has filled in new confidence and boosted energy among the young aspiring MBBS students in Hyderabad.
Since past five years now, the leading group of Yashoda Hospitals in Hyderabad is conducting summer camps for young students who are aspiring to become doctors. The main aim of the camp is to impart knowledge about new advancements in the medical technology, surgical procedures and also enlighten them about the emerging challenges and new trends in management of healthcare institutions. Overall the young doctors’ camp aims at moulding the young aspirants to take up doctor career as a profession and at the same time help understand the role of a doctor and his services. The camp also enables the students to learn about hospital set up, role of nurses, pharmacists and management of out and in patient wards in the hospitals.
After the completing of the 4 day camp, Dr R Chandrasekhar, chief operating officer of Yashoda Hospitals at Secunderabad elaborated that the objectives of Young Doctors Camp was to offer hands-on experience and learning opportunity for all the young aspiring doctors. “Young students interacting with eminent doctors give them unique opportunity to understand how a doctor works and his role in imparting healthcare service to the patients. In fact such experiences help the young minds to mould their career and resolve to become future doctors”.
Students from not just Telugu speaking states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh took part in the camp, but aspirants from neighboring states of Maharasthtra, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu along with their parents also showed interest in this unique camp.
“This year the camp had witnessed large number of entries from young doctors and MBBS students. Out of 2000 entries received, 105 students were shortlisted based on merit and clarity of their expression. All of the selected doctors were divided into three batches and allotted to three hospitals of Yashoda Group in the city,” elaborated the COO, about the selection procedure.
Apart from imparting advancement in medical technology and surgical procedures, the students were also taught dressing protocols where the young participants were made to wear apron and stethoscope to make them feel as if they are real doctors while participating in the camp.
They students at the camp were also introduced to the world of medicine that includes hands-on experience on a range of medical realms. Expert doctors also taught the young students how to operate in theaters, manage in and out patient wards, diagnostic facilities, pharmacies and nursing stations to understand various medical systems that are part of a health care institution.
