Gattefossé sets up Maha FDA approved lab for testing pharma ingredients

Gattefossé India has set up for the first in India a Maharashtra FDA approved pharmaceutical application testing lab in Mumbai for quality testing pharma ingredients and product development. The lab will also assist pharma companies in India to use ingredients for better product quality and efficacy.

Officially inaugurated in the presence of Jacques Moyrand, Gattefossé group chairman, Ajit Singh, chairman, ACG Worldwide Associated Capsule Pvt Ltd and Yves Perrin, the consul general of France, the laboratory will serve formulation development needs for customer projects to ensure product quality and also cater to in-house global technical requirements.
 
Sunil Bambarkar, managing director of Gattefossé India, explains, “We strongly believe that Gattefossé India with its well-equipped, FDA approved lab can widen its horizon and offer technical support not only to India but also to the region. This centre delivers services pertaining to the use of Gattefossé excipients in pharmaceutical dosage formulations and personal care formulations.”

Gattefossé India is affiliated to French company Gattefossé which develops, manufactures and sells specialty ingredients for the personal care and pharmaceutical industries. Gattefossé India- the Gattefossé affiliate is responsible for sales, marketing and technical service support throughout the Indian subcontinent.

The laboratory comprises two distinct areas; the first one is dedicated to develop oral solid dosage forms. It is a well equipped facility including the following machines like tablet compression press (ELIZA PRESS 200 motorised with IPPC & AWC facility), jacketed rapid mixer granulator (Saizonizer mixer granulator cap - 10 L), octagonal blender of 5, 2 and 1 litre(s) capacity- GMP model, vibro sifter (VSFT – 300 single deck) - GMP model, co-mill - GMP model, hot air oven for drying the formulated granules, various IPQC equipments namely hardness tester, disintegration time tester, tablet friability, tester, electromagnetic sieve shaker and tap densitometer. The second demonstration area is dedicated to conduct in-house micro-emulsion, suppository and topical workshops and laboratory scale formulations.

Personal care laboratory offers formulation development for personal care projects. Various workshops demonstrating Gattefossé expertise in developing cosmetic formulations and illustrating the sensorial benefits offered by emulsifiers and texture agents are conducted. An extensive range of ready-to-use prototypes using Gattefossé ingredients is proposed, taking into consideration the regional psyche and needs of Indian customers.

Analytical laboratory is a common facility for both pharmaceutical and personal care products where the developed formulations are evaluated using analytical instruments.
