Gujarat to focus on healthcare innovation, to meet stakeholders during VG 2015 to discuss roadmap

With key focus on creating an innovation friendly environment, the health and family welfare department, Government of Gujarat is having a high level discussion with stakeholders and decision-makers on how to leverage technology for developing in-house healthcare innovation. The meeting will also deliberate on further strengthening and broadening the scope for ensuring the health for all initiative that the state government had already flagged off.

The meeting will basically touch base with identifying possible areas of opportunity so as to create a road map and design the path to respond series of challenges and issues on the same.

To get maximum exposure and impact this meeting has been strategically held during the 7th Vibrant Gujarat summit on January 12, 2015. Giving a momentum to this years VG  2015 summit is that it will be inaugurated by prime minister Narendra Modi, who had initiated VG as his pet project while serving as the chief minister of the state.

Further, giving high precedence to the meeting is the presence of Union minister of health Jagat Prakash Nadda at the event along with secretary, ministry of health, government of India, minister of health and principal secretary from Gujarat health and family welfare.

Dr H G Koshia, commissioner of Gujarat Food & Drugs Control Administration informs that Gujarat has already initiated the process of wide and robust network of health and medical-care facilities to provide primary, secondary and tertiary healthcare at the doorstep of every citizen of Gujarat. “As time evolves so does the needs of the people, thus the government feels that this is the best time to encourage an innovation friendly environment in the state. Especially, since there is a lot of untapped potential for innovation in the healthcare sector. While the state government is committed to provide effective and quality healthcare to all, there is scope of further improvement with advancement in technology and newer innovations in the field of healthcare.”

He added that Gujarat, with all its right growth indicators and strong base can become a major global healthcare hub. Speaking about the VG summit he informed that this year too they have got tremendous response from stakeholder world wide with many showing keen interest in entering into investment intention form (IIF) with the state government. “There are a lot of new players form across the healthcare sector approaching us with intent to set up their base in an investor friendly state like Gujarat. In fact we have already entered into strategic partnership with many important players in the sidelines of this event that will play a very crucial role in further putting Gujarat in the world map,” he added.
