Healthcare excellence awards to be given away during Indo-global summit on June 20 & 22

The Indus Foundation is planning to present ‘Healthcare excellence awards’ during the Indo-global healthcare summit to be held from June 20 to 22 in Hyderabad.

According to S B Anumolu, President of Indus Foundation, New Jersey, USA, the healthcare awards event is an initiative of the Indus foundation. The main aim of these awards is to recognise innovation and encourage new research in the healthcare sector. “We at Indus Foundation have initiated the healthcare excellence awards to encourage individuals, institutions and companies to bring out more innovations and excellence in medical technology, medical education and pharmaceuticals,” said Anumolu.

In the first edition of these awards, the foundation had decided to give away healthcare excellence awards for various categories. The categories of these awards include lifetime achievement awards, best multispecialty hospital awards, best single specialty hospital award, best hospital for wellness and healthcare award, best IT and healthcare delivery company award, best medical and healthcare award and finally the best teacher award. In all, seven categories of awards are expected to be presented during the healthcare summit.

Under the lifetime achievement awards, the Indus foundation has listed 11 prominent people from various disciplines of healthcare. They are Dr V M Katoch, secretary department of health research and Director General of Indian Council of Medical Research, Dr Anil Kaul, Director of Clinical Laboratory OSU-Center for Health Sciences, Tulsa from USA, Dr Indira Sharma, professor of psychiatry, institute of medical sciences, Banaras Hindu University, Dr Sanjay P Singh, Chief of Staff Creighton University Medical Center, from Omaha USA, Dr Subbarao Kakarla, Director of Emeitus, NIMS Hyderabad, Dr Muzaffar Ahmed of National Disaster Management Authority, New Delhi, Professor M Habeeb Ghatala, former dean of Apollo Hospital Education and Research Foundation Hyderabad, Dr T V Krishna Rao, ENT Surgeon and Consultant from Hyderabad, Dr Ramesh K Goya, professor from Institute of Life Sciences Ahmadabad University, N Appa Rao, Chairman of IMA National Leaders Forum, New Delhi, and Professor V Vikram Kumar, former principal of Ranga Raya Medical College Kakinada are among the top professionals who will be receiving lifetime achievement awards.

Under best multi-speciality hospital category, two hospitals viz., Rainbow Hospital for women and children Hyderabad and civil hospital from Ahmadabad will receive the awards.

Dr Manoj Cheallani, IVF specialist and Director of Aayush, ICSI test tube baby centre from Raipur is the recipient of best single specialty hospital award.

Dr K Venkataramana, director of Bhaktivedanta Hospital from Thane will receive the award under best hospital and wellness category.

Under best IT and healthcare delivery company category, S V Krishna Prasad of Cito Healthcare and B Venkat of Sandor Medicaids both from Hyderabad will receive the healthcare excellence awards.

Apart from these, there are 19 awards given to individuals for their excellence in various fields. Major among them include, Dr Surapaneni Krishna Mohan from Department of Biotechnology Saveetha Medical College Chennai, Sameer Bhati senior manager marketing and operations from New Delhi will receive awards for excellence in healthcare and public health respectively.

Manikonda Prakash Rao, self –made healthcare specialist from Hyderabad will receive excellence award for mucus related respiratory health.

Under education category, Dr Zaheda Bano, Professor and Head of the Department of Pharmacology from Guntur Medical College Andhra Pradesh and Dr Rajeev Sood, Professor and Head of the Department of Urology from Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, New Delhi will also receive excellence awards for their immense contribution to education and research.
