The Indian Homoeopathy Medical Association (IHMA), Kerala branch, has urged central government to implement the United Medical Practitioners Bill based on Central Council of Homoeopathy Act 1973 and amend the Rule 106-B to solve the problems existing in the areas of homoeopathic medicine manufacturing and dispensing in the country.

A resolution to this effect was passed by the association at its annual state conference ‘FORSCHEN’2011 which was organised as part of the World Homoeopathy Day on April 10 at Malappuram, in Kerala.

In the resolution passed by the Conference, the association has also made a demand that the government should form separate Homoeopathic Drug Council and appoint homoeopathic graduates as Drug Inspectors. A Postgraduate Research Institute in Homoeopathy should also be in the agenda of the government.

While delivering the keynote address, the National President of IHMA Dr. Roshan Pinto said along with other systems of treatment, homoeopathy should also be included in the National Health Insurance Scheme.  The staff pattern in the Homoeopathic Medical Colleges must be regularized as per the norms of Central Council of Homoeopathic Act. Government should start staff nurse-cum-pharmacist course in government sector. The minimum qualification of government medical officers should be changed to graduation level.

The national president emphasized the need for research in homoeopathy to fight false propaganda spreading against the system saying it as ‘placebo’. He exhorted the homoeopaths of Kerala to take the system to the common people using the present scientific parameters. According to him modern researches done in homoeopathic medicines have proved that in higher dilution of homoeopathic drugs contain original medicinal substance.   

Prof. Jayesh R Bellare, a senior academician of IIT-Mumbai has presented the scientific paper on Homoeopathy based on his researches using nanotechnology.

The Hahnemann memorial speech was delivered by Dr PK Sudhir, the Controller of Homoeopathy, Health Sciences University of Kerala (KUHS). The talk carried the messages from Dr Hahnemann's life and achievements which inspired the delegates.

Dr PK Sudhir, controller of examinations, Kerala health university, Dr A Ajitkumar, the State president of IHMA, Dr K Suresh Babu, General Secretary and Dr Sreevals S Menon spoke in the seminar. More than 1,000 delegates from all over Kerala attended the conference.
