The Pharmaceutical Export Promotion Council of India (Pharmexcil) is organizing an India Pavilion from April 17 - 19 at the 15 th South East Asia Healthcare and Pharma show in Malaysia. This is the second time India is planning India pavilion exhibition cum business meet at Kuala Lumpur.

The objective of the event is to enhance the Indian pharmaceutical industry’s focus towards the Malaysian markets. As Malaysia and its surrounding areas are potential markets for low cost high quality medicines, the event stands apt for the Indian pharma players to grab the business in the areas of pharmaceutical formulations, herbal and natural products, medical devices and various other related healthcare products.

Today India has an edge in the international markets for not only producing low cost high quality medicines, but also for having a large number of pharmaceutical companies which are approved by the international regulatory authorities such as US FDA, MHRA, TGA (Australia), MCC (South Africa), Health Canada etc. All these approvals are evident of its standards and quality products. India has the largest number of US FDA-approved plants for generic manufacture.

Malaysia being at the heart of the Southeast Asian Region can play a vital role in boosting the Indian healthcare Industry. Today Malaysia is the world’s leading producer of medical disposable products and fast developing as a major manufacturer of hospital equipment, diagnostics and laboratory fittings. It has also made solid inroads in the hospital services and management sectors and even secured international contracts.

“We expect that India Pavilion at the biggest exhibition of Malaysia will definitely be an excellent opportunity for our pharmaceutical industry and healthcare organizations to secure new export markets,” said Dr P V Appaji, executive director, Pharmexcil.

The event is expected to pull more than 3800 visitors from across Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand and other surrounding areas.

Apart from participating in the event, the council is also organizing a half day seminar on Bio-Technology, in association with M/s Bio-Tech Corporation & Indian Embassy in Malaysia on April 18.
