ISM cos in TN to deliberate on new Ayush guidelines on Feb 26 in Chennai
The Tamil Nadu Ayurveda, Siddha and Unani Drug Manufacturers Association (TASUDMA) will have a comprehensive deliberation on the new guidelines issued by the Ayush department, especially on the ‘Ban on herbal drugs by European Union’. The Association is organizing a workshop on the issue on February 26 in Chennai.
The workshop will have a special session on the issue of European Union's ban on the sale of ayurvedic and herbal drugs across Europe from May 1 this year.
For a specific speech on the subject, TASUDMA has invited Dr Helmut Wildish, professor at the Institute of Dr George Kurtz KMPH to talk on registration of Ayush products in European Union countries.
There will be four sessions in the workshop the first one will start at 10.15 in the morning. The subject of the discussion is “Gray Areas in ISM pharmacopoeia and use of correct materials”. Director of CTMR, Chennai, Vaidya S Usman Ali will present a paper on the subject.
The second session will start at 11.30 with a speech by Dr H Shankarasubramanian, head, R&D at Cholayil Pharma on the subject, “Obstacles in raw materials & products”.
In the afternoon, the session on ‘Ban on herbal drugs by European Union’ will start at 2 PM and followed by it, from 3.15 to 4.15, Dr T Thirunarayanan, technical advisor to TASUDMA will deliver on “WHO guidelines and Ayush Protocols for Drug regulation.”
Before the valedictory session, there will be an interaction session between Drug Technical Advisory Board Member, Dr P Jayapraksh Narayanan & pharmacopoeia members.
Meanwhile, the TASUDMA members called on the former Ayush secretary, Shailaja Chandra who came to Chennai on a special assignment given by the central government regarding formulation of Ayush proposals for 12th Five Year Plan projects. She met ISM doctors, industry people, academicians and research units.
