As an essential part of regular teaching programme in post graduate (PG) course of dermatology, general surgery and plastic surgery, the Jawaharlal Institute of Post Graduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER), Pondicherry is organising a Laser Dermato Surgery Course, continuing medical education (CME) and workshop on April 19, at the institute.

The Laser Dermato Surgical procedures are routinely performed by dermatologists, general surgeons and plastic surgeons to remove unwanted skin lesions like benign moles, naevi, warts, skin tags, papillomas, pigmented scars, hypertrophic scars, keloids, unwanted hair, etc. Various Lasers used for dermato surgical procedures includes CO2 Laser, Diode Laser, Nd-Yag Laser, IPL Laser, etc.

This CME & workshop is a scientific event which will help dermatologists, general surgeons and plastic surgeons to carry out the procedure easily and this workshop will also includes keynote lectures and demonstration of dermato surgery Laser equipments.

Sources from the institute said, “We have arranged a live demonstration on how the dermato surgical procedures will be carried out by our trained and qualified faculty. Our Department of Plastic Surgery & Dermatology which is fully equipped with dermato surgery Lasers for giving hands on training to the students which will help them in future to carry out the procedure easily.”

JIPMER has planned to give hands-on training to the students at the live workshop and a brief demonstration of parts of CO2 Laser Machine, Diode Laser Machine, Nd-YAG Laser Machine, IPL Laser Machine and on Laser Cooling System. The key lecturers will conduct theory lectures on pre-op preparation of patient and post-op advice to be given to the patients.

Sources further informed that some information will be shared with the students on how to set up Laser dermato surgery clinic in future.

This CME & workshop is useful for PG students viz. MD (dermatology); MS (general surgery); MCh (plastic surgery); BSc nursing students; BSc Medical OT technologist students; practicing MD, MS and MCh students; OT staff nurses and OT technicians, etc..

JIPMER will be providing Participation Course Certificate, Course Kit including Course CD of the CME & workshop.
