MAICE 2017, ayurveda international expo & conference, to be held in Sharjah from May 19 to 20
In view of the increasing acceptance and recognition for ayurveda as an alternative medicine in the Arab world and the Middle East, the Sharjah based Emirates Ayurveda Graduates Association (EAGA), which is affiliated to IBPC-Sharjah, is organizing an ‘international ayurveda conference and expo’ in Sharjah from 19th to 20th May this year.
This is the first time an expo-cum-conference on ayurveda is organised in an Arab country and since there is participation of ayurvedic physicians from the Middle East and North African Countries (MENA), the event is christened as ‘MAICE 2017’ with the vision, 'Ayurveda for Arab Health', said the organisers.
EAGA is organizing the first edition of MAICE in association with Alanqaa Events, Sharjah. The two days program will be held at Hotel Radisson Blu Resort in Sharjah.
According to Dr. Suresh V C, chairman of the organizing committee, the Ayurveda Hospital Management Association (AHMA) in Kerala, Ayurveda Medical Association of India (AMAI), Sharjah Indian Association, Indian Business and Professional Council (IBPC) Sharjah, and Science India Forum are the strategic partners of the event. The program will be attended by expert physicians, entrepreneurs, academicians, scientists and researchers in ayurveda.
He further said the expo will feature booths of ayurvedic hospitals, academic institutions, resorts and product profiles of major ayurvedic companies from India.
The conference segment in the event is titled as “Jeevaneeyam’ which focuses on ayurvedic management on chronic diseases. Separate free medical camps will also be arranged as part of the event.
The conference will cover scientific sessions and seminars focusing on Ayurveda. Dr. Subhash Ranade from Pune, Dr. Prasanna Rao from Udupi, Dr. MRV Nampoothiri from Kochi, Dr. C Suresh Kumar and Dr. S Gopakumar from Thiruvananthapuram, Dr. K S Vishnu Nampoothiri from Alappuzha and Dr. R. Indusekhar from Singapore will speak on various subjects in different sessions.
Rose George, the coordinator of the event while briefing about the event to Pharmabiz, said the organisers have invited the Ministry of Ayush, to be part of the event. The health minister of Kerala is expected to be the chief guest in the inaugural function.
With regard to the event, she said the people in the UAE will have the facility to meet the experts in ayurvedic treatment system and become aware of various services and facilities that each institution offers. We want to project the authentic side of ayurveda to the Arab population as well. Many people from the local community will be invited to be part of the event, she added.
