India’s premier industry bodies and top global consulting firms have joined together to form a common umbrella that will collectively draw up strategies for the future with a two-day conference from March 3 here, with a view to provide recommendations to address the crucial healthcare challenges of the nation and countries faced with similar concerns.

Under the Healthcare Alliance, All India Management Association (AIMA), Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), Indian Medical Association (IMA) and Healthcare Federation of India (NATHEALTH) have come together. Four knowledge partners – Bain & Company, KPMG, McKinsey & Company, and PwC—will also join the initiative while Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) will be the “technical resources group”; and Apollo Hospitals as the coordinating partner.

The conglomeration of industry leaders will work together under a unique initiative, “The Healthcare Alliance”, said Apollo Hospitals group chairman Dr Prathap C Reddy. “The coming together of such experienced organisations reaffirms the belief that much can be achieved collectively to better the healthcare scenario in India and create solutions that would impact the situation in the country and be replicated elsewhere in the world,” he told a press conference here on Thursday.

The two-day global conference with the theme “the Future of Healthcare: A Collective Vision” is expected to have participation by health ministers, secretaries from different nations, policy makers, thought leaders as well as business and health leaders from across the globe.

Prof K Srinath Reddy, president of PHFI, said at present different stakeholders speak in isolation and the conference will be a collective action to forge consensus and take forward further the healthcare agenda of the country which face multiple challenges.

“We have to work towards technology-enabled solutions, not physician driven, to provide quality healthcare at the primary level. We need to have the best of the science and public health knowledge to advance the goals in healthcare delivery,” he said.

The conference will have sessions on control of NCDs through primary and preventive healthcare, public private people partnership, talent fast forward: upskill and upscale, and innovation for universal access.

The final and the fifth session titled “Future Perfect: My Vision”, will witness thought leaders share their vision on the future of healthcare and present their recommendations for immediate actions.
