Medybiz Pharma which manages prescription refill operations now reports a 30 per cent increase in the one last one in dermatology medication use and a 40 per cent rise in vaccine administration.

The study which spanned over the 12 months highlighted four aspects that were prevalent in the medication landscape. These were pain management, skin diseases, eye disorders emerged as the new lifestyle threats for the Indian corporates.

Analgesics, dermatology, ophthalmic preparations, hormones, nutrition supplements and drugs to treat  vitamin deficiency have reported higher sales over the hypertension and diabetic medications. This is a clear indication that corporate personnel are consuming a lot of pain killers for multiple problems. There has been an increase of 25 per cent in the uptake of painkillers from last year to this year.

The age group of 18-34 years have reported to have a higher risk of critical ailments like hypertension, and neuro diseases. This category of the population have indicated a five times increase compared to the 45 to 60 years category.

Hypertension drug prescription have doubled amongst the 18-34 years  age group compared to middle and older age population. The use of ophthalmic drugs eight times more than middle aged and three times over the geriatric  citizens. This apart the use of anti-respiratory medicines has doubled  and is  30 per cent more than middle age and senior citizens for this group.

In its assessment of  cities, different pattern of common diseases were indicated. For instance Bengaluru reported highest dermatology drugs  followed by Mumbai. Kolkata reported highest consumption of gastrointestinal and anti-respiratory medicines. Delhi accounted for highest  pain relief and analgesics medicines.  Mumbai indicated highest number of cardiac drug consumers and Chennai for anti diabetic medication.

There was a visible increase of anti asthmatic drugs by women reported double the consumption over men. Diabetes was a common condition for both men and women. Women consumed more pain killers over men and also reported three times more blood related medication compared to men.

In the case of ophthalmic, neuro, and cardiac medication, the study observed that men reported higher use of the same over women.
