Nova Specialty Surgery & state govt plan to organise training prog on bariatric surgery for medical students

Nova Specialty Surgery and the Maharashtra state government are planning to organise a training programme on bariatric surgery for all the medical students across the state. This programme can be attended by all the medical students across the state and country.

The training programme is expected to be held on April 14 and 15 across the Mumbai city.

The main aim of the programme is to make students aware of the bariatric surgery and to deliver the world class quality care to the patients. Dr Ramen Goel, Consultant Bariatric Surgeon, Nova Specialty Surgery, said, “We are in talks with State Medical Education and Horticulture department to organise the training programme for the benefit of the medical students as Nova offers tests such as BCA analysis, ECH, X-Ray, TMT, PFT, 2-D Echo, and USG and all the laparoscopic, hand held equipments which will help the students to learn about the new technique.”

Maharashtra Minister of State for Medical Education and Horticulture, Vijaykumar Gavit, said, “We are organising this programme for all the medical students which will help them to learn the new technique of surgery. Dr Ramen Goel, who has treated many patients at the Nova Centre in Tardeo, will train some doctors under his wings.”

Dr Goel informed that in Mumbai we have successfully completed 40 bariatric surgeries at the Nova centre in Mumbai and we will invite those patients as a part of their study how the surgery has helped them to live and cherish their life further. He further added, “Nova has trained staff on how effective monitoring helps the patient to recover very fast and short stay at the hospital. Drugs used here are very different, which are used 4 hours after surgery and complications are very less.”

The cost of the surgery is Rs.1.5 lakh and for those who cannot afford the surgery we have various plans for them. At Nova Centre in Tardeo 75 per cent of the patients have been discharged within 24 hours of the surgery.

This programme will include live surgeries, case studies and most importantly how a bariartic surgery is done for this training will be provided to the students and doctors.
