As part of the ongoing process of revising the prices of essential medicines in line with the new Drug Price Control Order (DPCO), the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) has fixed the prices of 18 more formulation packs.
The price regulator has already fixed the prices of over 350 formulations so far, before the present batch of 18 packs. Besides, it had also found no information about 154 formulations, leaving the agency with no options to fix prices. Thus over 500 formulations have been covered.
According to the new DPCO and the Pharmaceutical Pricing Policy, as many as 348 essential medicines had been brought under price control and a total of over 650 formulations thus had to be placed under the control.
The formulations for which the prices were announced now were based on mitomycin-C, ifosfamide glycerin, benzyl benzoate, benzoin compound, phenytoin sodium, nifedipine, permethrin, potassium, permanganate, propofol, paracetamol, folic acid, urokinase, mannitol and homatropine.
