The Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) has framed a 'Time Schedule' and directed all pharmacy institutions which intend to start diploma in pharmacy, bachelor in pharmacy and Pharm D courses to comply with it for approval of the same u/s 12 of the Pharmacy Act, as per the Supreme Court directive.

PCI has directed that submission of application need to be made in Standard Inspection Form (SIF). SIF in triplicate is to be submitted in hard copy for new institutions, new courses or increase in intake between August 1 and August 31, 2015 for the academic year 2016-17. The same is applicable for existing institutions already approved under Section 12 of the Pharmacy Act or which are approved for conduct of course.

It further states that if the application is incomplete, deficiencies will be conveyed by the PCI by September 30, 2015. The institution has to submit the compliance by October 15, 2015 and if no reply is received or the compliance is found incomplete, the proposal will be rejected and returned by the PCI by October 25 the same year.

As per the PCI circular, above time schedule with respect to submission of application in SIF and compliance has to be strictly followed. No relaxation in the same is permissible with reference to the Supreme Court judgement. The institutions will have to apply afresh for the next academic session if they so desire. It further states that the applications which are not received between 1st and 31st August will be summarily rejected by the PCI.

Similarly the compliance received after 25th October will not be taken into consideration and the application will be rejected and returned by the PCI.
