PES College of Pharmacy to hold 2-day meet on ‘Next Generation Pharmacist’ from Oct 17

PES College of Pharmacy is organising the 5th edition of PESCP international conference from October 17 to 18, 2015. The event will be held at the PES College in Bengaluru. The theme of the two-day conference is ‘Next Generation Pharmacist’ and will include the perspective of both the pharma industry and the clinical practice.

The key objective of the event is to bring together academia and scientists to share their experiences about all aspects of the pharmaceutical sciences and clinical pharmacy. It also provides interdisciplinary forum for researchers, pharmacists and educators to discuss the most recent innovations, trends and concerns, practical challenges encountered and the solutions adopted in the field of pharmaceutical sciences. To ensure an intense interaction amongst the researchers present at the conference, only one session at a time will be held. This will give the participants full advantage of every presentation made by the experts, said the organisers.

The event is important for production, quality assurance professionals in the pharma industry along with bio-pharma engineers and scientists.

The conference will also attract poster presentations covering pharmaceutical technology, medicinal chemistry, pharmacognosy, indigenous drugs, herbal formulations, phyto-chemistry, pharmacovigilance, drug metabolism, biotherapeutics, drug regulatory affairs, pharmaceutical management, pharmaoeconomics and pharmacoepidemiology.

The key speakers for the first day session are Dr. John E Moses, associate professor and  reader, Chemical Biology School of Chemistry, University of Nottingham UK who will speak on application of click chemistry in anti cancer. Dr. Shenaz Tejani-Butt, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Medical College of Virginia will address on unlocking the mysteries of depressive illness. Dr. Rajendra Gyawali, assistant professor, department of pharmacy, Kathmandu University will speak on integrated approaches towards herbal drug formulations and development in Nepal. Dr. Srinivasa Rao, senior vice president, R&D, Biomedical Research Institute, CA will delve on the fourth dimension of cancer treatment. Dr. Anisha Send Mazumdar, CSO and EVP, Stempeutics Research will speak on adults stem cells, their application in regenerative medicine.

On the second day session will have Dr. Yuri Anissimov, associate professor, applied mathematics, School of Natural sciences, Micro & Nanotechnology Centre, Griffith University, Australia who will provide a snap shot on mathematical modelling of topical drug delivery.

Dr. Chanda Kulkarni , research consultant and professor pharmacology, Bengaluru will speak on the clinical pharmacist of today, role and responsibilities. Dr. Gareth WV Cave, head, inorganic chemistry, Nottingham Trent University, UK will address on 'Nanoparticles: From therapeutic vectors to chicken in a basket’. Dr. Marco Leonti, department of biomedical science, University of Cagliari, Italy will speak on reverse ethno-pharmacology and drug discovery.

The event will conclude with a two-hour panel discussion. The experts are Dr. Subrahmanyam, vice president, and head, department of drug metabolism, pharmacokinetics and investigative toxicology, Advinus Therapeutics, Bengaluru, Balaji V Kadri, head of formulation, development and manufacturing, GVK Bio Bengaluru, Dr. Mohanlal Sayana, vice president, clinical affairs and global pharmacovigilance, Strides Arcolab. Dr. Gopal Muralidharan, CTO, Advinus Therapeutics, Bengaluru, Dr. Shyam Ramakrishnan, CSO, R&D, The Himalaya Drug Company and Dr. Srinivasa Arutla, head, product development, Apotex Research, Bengaluru.
