The Pharmaceuticals Export Promotion Council of India (Pharmexcil) in association with the All India Drugs Control Officers' Confederation (AIDCOC) is organizing a symposium on 'Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) and Regulatory Perspective for Pharma & Biotech Sectors' on December 17, 2016 at Andhra University, Visakhapatnam, A.P. The event will coincide with the 68th Indian Pharmaceutical Congress (IPC) being held at Visakhapatnam from December 17 to 19.

IPC is organizing its 68th edition with the theme “Quality Pharmaceuticals and Patient Welfare”. It is a dynamic forum, where thousands of professionals from industry, academics, research institutes & drugs control organizations assemble to meet, deliberate and recommend policy inputs to government for growth of pharma sector.

The joint symposium will have deliberations on several contemporary topics succeeded by panel discussions.  Dr. Manisha Shridhar, World Health Organization, Regional Office for South-East Asia (WHO/ SEARO) will deliver on 'Networking of regulators in the South East Asia region for mutual cooperation for capacity building and skill development in Pharmaceuticals regulations, while Dr. Chava Satyanarayana, CEO - Laurus Labs Ltd will deliver on 'Patents, Patients and Affordability.

In the symposium, Dr. Sanjit Singh Lamba, M.D. – Eisai Co. Ltd is scheduled to give his speech on 'Data Integrity – a paradigm shift in Regulators approach' and A.V. Jayapala Reddy, Global Head, Biologics, Hetero Labs Ltd will deliver on 'Pharmaceutical Industry in Hyderabad and its contribution to IPR'. Dr P B N Prasad, DDC(I),CDSCO, Hyderabad will deliver on 'Risk based Inspection an effective tool for Quality Management.
