Pharmexcil to conduct CoA elections on April 23 & 24,withdrawal of nominations on April 19, 2018
The Pharmaceutical Export Promotion Council of India (Pharmexcil) has issued an election notification for electing new members of Committee of Administration (CoA) under various categories governing the council.
According to Uday Bhasker, Director General of Pharmexcil, the council has decided to go for an election on April 23 & 24, 2018 to elect CoA members for 15 seats under various categories like small scale industries (SSI), non-small scale industries, status holders, merchant exporters, research and development, contract research organizations (CROs), biotech, herbal, Ayurveda, Unani and other categories.
Pharmexcil has already called for nominations from industry members to contest for the 15 seats of CoA from April 12,, 2018, the council has decided April 19, 2018 as the final day for withdrawal of nominations.
As the present tenure of the members is completed by the end of this month, the council has decided to elect new members to the vacant 15 seats of CoA and the newly elected members will serve the council for two years from 2018 to 2020.
In view of the above the council has decided to call for nominations from industry members based on their annual value of export turnover. Under SSI category the council has decided to fill 4 seats through elections and there is no export limit set for it. However, under non SSI category, the council has decided to call for nominations to 4 seats, wherein it has decided to fill 2 CoA members with members companies whose annual turnover is between Rs. 100 to Rs. 500 crore, while it has decided to fill one seat each with members companies having export turnover between Rs. 500 to Rs. 1, 000 crore and above Rs. 1,000 crore respectively.
Under status holder category the council has decided to fill 3 seats. Of which one seat is expected to be filled with member companies having 3 years export turnover of over Rs. 20 crore while another two seats with member companies having export turnover more than Rs. 100 to Rs. 500 crore.
Under merchant export category, the Council has decided to conduct election for one seat and has sought nominations from member companies whose export turnover is more than Rs. 20 crore. Under CRO, R&D, biotech, herbal, Ayurveda and other categories, the Council has decided to conduct elections for 3 seats and there is no turnover limit for the members companies to participate in the elections. “As per the provisions of articles of association of the council and as per the directions of department of commerce government of India, Pharmexcil has decided to conduction elections for 15 seats of CoA. However there will not be election for the chairman, as the present vice chairman will automatically become Chairman of CoA,” informed the Director General. Counting and declaration of results will be held on April 24, 2018.
