Pharmexcil to organise Regulatory Guidelines Meet from Dec 1-2 in Kolkata
The Pharmaceutical Export Promotion Council of India (Pharmexcil) is organising a Regulatory Guidelines Meet for the export of Herbal and Ayush products for two days from December 1 to 2 at Science City in Kolkata.
According to Ravi Udaya Bhaskar, Additional Executive Director (AED) of Pharmexcil, the two-day meet is expected to focus on EU THMPD (European Union Traditional Herbal Medicinal Product Directive) and create awareness among the Herbal and Ayush manufacturers and exporters of these products about the regulatory guidelines to be followed so as to overcome the quality certification challenges during the export of these products to the European countries.
“After China, India is the second largest manufacturer and exporter of Herbal and Ayush medicinal products in the world. However, due to changing regulatory regimes across the globe, our members have been facing lot of regulatory compliance issues. To overcome these difficulties, we have invited experts from Germany and Switzerland for delivering presentations on regulatory requirements and quality certification by the Indian manufacturers to promote their products to the EU countries,” informed Ravi Udaya Bhaskar.
The two-day programme will witness discussion on EU THMPD guidelines and registration procedures for export of Herbal and Ayush products on the first day. Leaders from industry and regulators from Germany and Switzerland are also expected to discuss and deliberate on opportunities and challenges faced by the traditional Ayush and herbal industry across the globe.
On the second day, the Council is expected to discuss on quality certification, for which Pharmexcil has roped in expert agencies such as USP, Star K, Halal, Registrar Corp to discuss on the quality certifications, registration procedures and other requirements.
Dr. Simone Hunziker, founding president, Indo-Swiss Ayurveda Foundation from Switzerland is expected to deliver a lecture on Ayurveda and CAM in Switzerland. He is also expected to give a presentation on opportunities and challenges in this segment. Tobias Peschel, expert, BDIH from Germany is expected to give presentation on EU THMPD guidelines and registration procedures for novel food, herbals and health supplements.
Similarly Dr.Narendra Bhatt, Technical Advisor, Benefyt Foundation is expected to shed light on the regulatory laws for TCM, Ayurveda and Natural products in Europe and India.
Apart from the above, leading experts such as P. Nagaraj, regulatory advisor from Registrar Corp, Jaison George, new markets coordinator from Star K India, Karthik Iyer, associate director from Strategic Customer Development of USP India, Waseem Raja, head auditor & head trainer from Halal India and Dr. Deepika Dunawant, expert, Quality Council of India are expected to dwell on various topics relating to export regulations and quality compliance for Ayush and Herbal products.
