Pharmexcil to organize 2-day workshop on IPR in Chandigarh

The Pharmaceuticals Export Promotion Council of India (Pharmexcil) is organizing a two days workshop on Intellectual property Rights (IPR) and regulatory perspective for pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors on February 22 & 23, 2017 in Chandigarh.

The main objective of the workshop is to deliberate on various issues concerning intellectual property rights in India and also focus on regulatory aspects government the pharma and biotechnology sectors in the country. “With India joining World Trade Organization (WTO) and becoming part of TRIPS regime, the country is today regarded as the ‘Pharmacy of the World’ where in leading players from across the continents are coming here and investing in research and development and outsourcing their manufacturing here in India. Therefore, it is important to spread more awareness on IPR and regulations of the pharma and biotech sectors. As part of this the council with the support of Department of Pharmaceuticals is organizing a two days workshop. Interested members can utilize this opportunity to make better prospects,” informed Uday Bhaskar, Director General, Pharmexcil.

As already, the leading advanced countries like USA, UK and EU are expressing apprehensions over the way the IPR is being implemented, this workshop has come at the right time. “This workshop will not only dispel doubts about the IPR activities in India, but it will also give new insights about how we can proceed further with the government’s dream initiative of ‘Make in India’ and help transform the country an innovation hub,” observed the Director General.

The two days workshop is expected to delve on topics like patents, its compliance and intellectual property. Focus is given more on innovations in micro, small and medium enterprise sectors of pharmaceutical industry.
