PSM India to hold workshop on 'Secured medicines & robust pharmacovigilance' on Aug 26 in Mumbai

The Partnership for Safe Medicines (PSM) India Initiative, in association with the National Coordination Centre (PvPl), and the Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission (IPC) Ghaziabad will host a national training workshop on 'Secured Medicines & Robust Pharmacovigilance - Key to Patient Safety & Health' on August 26, 2013 at Chavan Centre, Yashwantrao Chavan Pratisthan, Mumbai.

The workshop will focus on educating consumers and addressing spurious drug problem in India.  Government officials, industry leaders, and healthcare experts in Mumbai will discuss strategies to guarantee secured medicines for Indian consumers.  

Keynote speakers at the workshop include Keshav Desiraju, secretary, Ministry of Health; C P Singh, chairman, NPPA; Mahesh Zagade, FDA Commissioner, Maharashtra; Wajahat Habibullah, chairman, PSM India Initiative; and Bejon Misra, executive director, PSM India. Drugs controller general of India Dr G N Singh will deliver his speech on the role of central
government on patient safety & quality health.

Launched in December 2010, the Partnership for Safe Medicines (PSM) India brings together stakeholders working to eliminate the threat posed by spurious medicines. This initiative is managed by a group of eminent Board Members drawn from various professions and led by Consumer Online Foundation, which is a registered not-for-profit Consumer Organisation supported by various organizations including the Government of India, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilisers (Department of Pharmaceuticals) and World Health Organisation India Office, among others.
