The 10th annual general meeting of the Tamil Nadu Pharmaceutical Distributors Federation (TNPDF), the state body of the All India Chemists & Distributors Federation (AICDF) has elected the new team of office-bearers with T Annamalai, proprietor of Vadunathan Pharmaceuticals at Trichy as president and Prem Chand Ranka, proprietor of Suresh Pharmaceutical in Chennai as general secretary.

The former general secretary, V P Elango, proprietor of Chennai Pharma Distributors, has been made Administrative Secretary of the association in Chennai.

The AGM was held in the hill station resort in Yercaud in Salem district recently and more than one thousand distributors and wholesalers attended.  Palanivel of Shree Meenakshi Medical Agencies at Erodu; C Chidambaram, proprietor of Rajan Agencies at Tanjore; and G Bhaskaran, proprietor of SR Pharma in Vellore are the new vice-presidents. G Krishnan Kutty of Cureil Pharma in Chennai and SPSS Balasubrahmaniam, proprietor of Balaji Pharmaceutical at Namakkal have been elected as joint secretaries.

Tanjore Somasundaram will work as the new organization secretary for south zones and S Shanmukhanathan, proprietor of Kumaran Agencies in Tirunelveli is the treasurer. PLA Chidambaram from Annamalai Agencies at Tanjore is the new Patron of the association and V Vinod Kumar of Vijay Pharma Distributors in Chennai is the new chairman for the Product Information Services (PIS) Committee.

The first meeting of the new office-bearers will be held in Chennai next week. The meeting will decide future plans of the association including merger with CIPMMA, and with the first chemists’ body in Tamil Nadu, Chennai Chemists and Druggists Association (CCDA), sources informed.

The tenure of the office-bearers is three years.
