The Telangana State government is planning to fill up more than 2100 vacant posts in the health department across the state. After formation of Telangana, there have been many posts left vacant in Health and Medical Education, Directorate of Health and Vidya Vidhana Parisahd departments.
According to sources in the healthcare department under all categories, there are more than 2,118 posts left vacant and because of which lot of work in the healthcare department is left pending. Since the Chief Minister of Telangana K.Chandrasekhara Rao, is giving highest priority to healthcare he has immediately accorded approval for filling of all the vacant posts in the healthcare department. “Healthcare is of highest priority for us in the state. Apart from upgrading the district level and regional hospitals we have also accorded to fill up all the vacant posts at various levels and asked the officials to ensure best quality healthcare services to the people,” informed the Chief Minister.
However, the officials are now thinking as to which system to follow to fill up the posts. Earlier, in united Andhra Pradesh, all the posts were filled by the healthcare through direct recruitment process, but after formation of the new state of Telangana, the state government has proposed to fill all the posts using the Telangana Public Service Commission (TSPCB). “Earlier, the recruitment process was full of corruption and only those who gave bribe were recruited. Therefore we demand the government to fill all vacant posts through TSPCB,” said Dr Radha, a practicing doctor, aspiring to bag a government post in the healthcare department.
At present there about 128 Assistant professors vacancies in the Department of Medical Education. Apart from this there are 88 posts vacant for grade-1 lab technicians and 65 posts vacant for Tutors. In addition to this there are about 58 vacancies for pharmacists, 6 vacancies each for physicist and librarian which have all got approval from the government to be filled up soon.
Similarly, there are 733 staff nurses, 228 civil assistant surgeons and about 100 pharmacists post vacant in the directorate of health. There are also 78 vacancies for lab technicians’ grade-2, 19 vacancies for radiographers, 6 posts each of administrative and assistant statistical officers in addition to 2 paramedical pots to be filled in the department.
There are about 590 vacant posts under the Vidya Vidhana Parishad under various categories, which include staff nurse 208, ANMs-152, CAS-150, pharmacists-55, lab technicians 9 and physiotherapists -6. All together there are about 2100 posts that are expected to be filled up in the healthcare department of Telangana.
