TN Dr MGR Medical University grants affiliation to NCRM to conduct course in regenerative medicine
The Tamil Nadu Dr MGR Medical University has granted affiliation to Chennai based Nichi-In Centre for Regenerative Medicine (NCRM) to conduct a two year full time PG course, Master in Science (M.Sc) in Regenerative Medicine under the Allied Health Sciences Category for the academic year 2013-14, sources from NCRM informed.
According to Dr Samuel Abraham, managing director of NCRM, Regenerative Medicine is the future of Medicine and its true potential can be tapped only when there is an amalgamation of multi-disciplinary expertise and knowledge of both scientists in the allied field and the physicians of all relevant specialties. Therefore this post graduate program has been designed to impart the current knowledge and expertise on Regenerative Medicine to the students of basic sciences, medicine, dentistry, veterinary sciences and allied fields. This is the first such course in this discipline in the state of Tamil Nadu, he said.
The course will be conducted at the NCRM Campus in Chennai. Examinations will be conducted by the Tamil Nadu Dr MGR Medical University which will award the Course Completion Certificates to those candidates who complete the course successfully as per the prescribed norms and regulations. The last date for online submission of applications is August 24, 2013.
NCRM, an Indo-Japanese joint venture institute, is also conducting web based training program in regenerative medicine in association with Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR). Recently the centre has found a place in the list of globally significant medical discoveries. The Global Medical Discovery, a Canadian organization that publishes a selected list of globally significant patents, discoveries and publications, has listed the recent work of NCRM based on the successful treatment of ‘Ovarian cancer (Stage IV) with Autologous Immune Enhancement Therapy’ (AIET) as one of the key scientific articles.
