World Pharmacists Day to be celebrated in Tamil Nadu and Kerala on September 25
The Indian Pharmacist Association (IPA) Tamil Nadu chapter and the Pharmacy Council of Kerala will hold special celebrations on September 25 to mark the World Pharmacists Day. This is the second year of the celebrations after government of India recognised September 25 as Pharmacists Day last year.
In Chennai, the programme will be conducted at Annamalai Manram in the city and the chief guest of the function will be the state health minister, Dr Vijay Bhaskar.
In Thiruvanamthapuram, backward community minister, Manjalamkuzhi Ali will inaugurate the function at the government guest house hall.
J Jayaseelan, secretary of Tamil Nadu IPA, said the day celebration will draw attention to the myriad problems faced by pharmacists across the state and ponder over what needs to be done to address them. The programme is done on the directions of the pharmacy council of India.
Tamil Nadu pharmacy council president, Dr Chinnaswami, drugs controller M Abdul Khader, CDSCO deputy DC, Dr Manivannan, IPA Tamil Nadu president, M Yusuf, Dr Revichandran and J Jayaseelan will speak on the occasion.
In Kerala, as part of the celebration, the state pharmacy council will inaugurate the ‘Insurance Scheme’ for the registered pharmacists . The best pharmacist award instituted by the council will also be given in the meeting.
Kerala state council president B Rajan, MLA K Muraleedharan, Health director Dr P K Jameela and United India Insurance company general manager V Sajan will attend the function.
