With the monsoons on the anvil, diseases like typhoid, malaria, chikunguniya, leptospirosis, dengue, etc. are not uncommon. Another widespread ailment which occurs during monsoon is leptospirosis. During early monsoons, the areas of Dibrugarh and Tezpur in Assam, experience an epidemic of encephalitis which could lead to seizures, tremors, hallucinations and temporary and permanent memory problems and disorientation. SES for Acute Encephalitis Syndrome proves a boon to doctors who can, with one specific test rule out possibilities and render suitable medication, he added.
Another grave monsoon related ailment would be Whole Enteroviral Infections which claim lives of numerous infants as a result of heart and liver failure. These viruses are the cousins of polio and can be easily detected through SES.
According to Dr Ravi Kumar, SES is powerful to diagnose a variety of diseases that claim lives of numerous people in India.
