The Chennai based NGO, YRG CARE, is organizing three day workshop on Good Clinical Laboratory Practice (GCLP) at TICEL Bio Park at Taramani here. The programme which is scheduled from June 24-26, is co-sponsored by Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).

The workshop is intended for microbiologists, pathologists, biochemists, lab-directors, lab-technologists, QA/QC personnel, quality officers and professionals associated with clinical laboratory management and accreditation, sources said.

Those who are currently engaged in the diagnostic lab services or clinical researches are eligible to participate in the workshop. Students are not permitted.

The 3 day workshop will discuss on principles of Quality Essentials, QA/QC practices, establishment and management of quality system, documentation structure and system, test facility operation, continual improvement, bio-safety and ergonomics, GCLP in clinical trials and overview of NABL accreditation.

The workshop includes didactic lectures, interactive sessions, group exercise and case studies. The faculties of the workshop are from national and international institutions and universities.

GCLP outline the principles and procedures to be followed by medical laboratories involved in patient care or clinical research so as to provide consistent, reproducible and reliable laboratory results.

The workshop is meant to offer comprehensive guidance for those who are implementing GCLP in their laboratories. On completion of the course, the participants will be awarded certificates.
