20th World Congress of World Society of Cardio Thoracic Surgeons to be held in Chennai from Oct 20 next year

The 20th World Congress of the World Society of Cardio Thoracic Surgeons will be held in Chennai in Tamil Nadu from October 20 to 23, 2010. The official website of the Congress was inaugurated in the city on December 16 by the state health secretary, V K Subburaju.

Former vice-president of United States of America, Al Gore will attend the world congress.

The congress will be coincided with the sixth Global Forum of Humanitarian Medicine in Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery, and both the assemblies are held in India for the first time after its formation.

The Chennai based Frontier Lifeline & Dr K M Cherian Heart Foundation is the principal host organizer of the mega event. The government of Tamil Nadu partners with the hospital in organizing the international scientific events in the state, said Dr K M Cherian, chairman & CEO of the hospital.

While inaugurating the website < www.wscts2010.com >, V K Subburaju noted that the state government was pleased to partner with Frontier Lifeline Hospital in hosting the 20th World Congress on Cardio Thoracic Surgery and the sixth Global Forum on Humanitarian Medicine in Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery next year. He said it would be a proud moment for the state to organize an international congress of this magnitude. He added that the chief minister of the state has promised full support to ensure the success of the prestigious event and hoped that the outcome of the congress would benefit the common man across the country.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Cherian said both the events will be held at Frontier Mediville, the medical village being built by his hospital trust at Elavoor near Chennai.
