The Academy of Intellectual Property Studies (AIPS) is organizing a workshop on 'in-house patent strategy and management' on September 30 and October 1, 2006, in Mumbai.
The objective of the workshop is to familiarize participants with the various practical issues that could arise while managing patents in an 'in-house' context, and deliberate on alternative strategies.
Company managers will be trained to devise and implement required systems to manage their patent portfolios. Decisions regarding whether to file, foreign filings, third party issues, administrative issues, budgeting, potential legal issues etc will be included in the topics under discussion. The sessions will be interactive, and involve role-play sessions wherein participants field IP related questions typically posed by the top management of a company. hands-on training can therefore be expected.
The methodology will be based on practical exercises simulating an actual patents review meeting. This shall be done using a dummy client set up. This workshop shall also provide experience on patent management software, using dummy data and exercises. Other exercises will focus on the costs associated with patents, and guide on constructing scenarios and budgets.
Suitable for executives from all departments dealing with company IP/Patent issues, such as the IP cell, R&D, finance, marketing, business development, legal etc.
Faculty: Dr. Win Eyles, Founder and MD, NetsPat U.K.
