Bangalore Bio 2007, one of the major biotech shows in Asia-Pacific region hosted by Department of IT and Biotechnology, Government of Karnataka and organised by Vision Group on Biotechnology will be held from 7th to 9th June 2007 at Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC).
The biotech show, a new focal theme of the Bangalore Bio 2007 Conference 'Accelerating Industry Growth through Integrated Innovation', is expected to be a meeting place of experts from industry and policy makers to 'Think BIG - Think Biotechnology, Think Innovation, Think Growth', according to the organisers.
The focal theme is designed to discuss, frontier technologies and cutting edge R&D, clinical trails and research process outsourcing, regulatory issues and their impact on industry growth, Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) issues, finance - innovation and investment, bioinformatics and computer applications, human resource development, affordable diagnostics and nutrigenomics.
A one-day Agribiotech Conference will be conducted in the event, for showcasing India's experience and progress in agri-biotechnology. The sessions of the entire day will be dedicated for discussions and deliberations on economic and social impacts of agricultural biotechnology and its future growth in India and the other parts of the world. The discussions will be focused on subjects 'Indigenization of Agri-Biotechnology: Hurdles and enablers' and 'A decade of global experience - learning for the future'.
Bangalore Bio 2007 will also have special events on gateway to Europe, CEO conclave, bio awards nite, industry trails and a poster session. The gateway to Europe is the interactive platform for Indian companies seeking to go global in biotech. The special event is expected to bring together a network of business sector specialists and support teams from Europe to throw light on the Biotechnology scenario and its potential growth.
The CEO Conclave is planned as an exclusive industry get-together of distinguished people from the world of biotech with diverse backgrounds (CEOs, R&D heads, policy makers, VCs, investment bankers, etc).
The Bio Awards Nite, an exclusive event of Bangalore Bio, will recognise the contribution of eminent Padma Awardees for their outstanding achievements in the field of science and technology. Awards for the best stalls will also be presented to the exhibitors for innovative stall designs and creative display of products. Awards will also be delivered to the best entries in poster session.
Industry trails, an organised tour programme to provide in-depth knowledge with the factory visits will include company presentations, manufacturing (general and specific) techniques, business processes, good manufacturing practices, health and safety etc.
The Poster Session, 'Walkway of Discovery', will offer an exclusive opportunity for young researchers, scientists and technocrats from universities, R&D labs, government departments, private sector to present their projects, research work, innovative ideas and interact with the other players in Biotech industry.
A career forum with focus on the challenges of ensuring trained and skilled human resources, which are key to the future of the Biotechnology industry, will be another attraction of this year's events. As a venture to leverage the business opportunities, the organisers will also arrange a Build Your Business (BYB) forum as a networking platform for buyers - sellers of various organizations. The intention of the forum is to provide basic facilities for the trade show participants to hold B2B meetings to explore collaboration, investment, marketing, trade, research process outsourcing etc. The organisers are planning to include facilities like corporate presentation slots, discussion booths, business center and conferencing facilities.
