A three-in-one conference-cum exhibition of Interkama India, Pharma India 2003, and Biotech India International 2003 will be held at Hitex, the new exhibition centre built on international standards in Hyderabad, from September 24 to 27, 2003. All the three shows are being organised and managed by Messe Duesseldorf GmbH, Germany, and its Indian subsidiary, Cidex Trade Fairs Pvt. Ltd. The organisers would be bringing for the first time to India the world's largest manufacturing automation, instrumentation and integrated IT solutions event - Interkama. The event would be staged along with Pharma India 2003 and Biotech India International 2003.
Briefing newsmen on the event, Nobert M Schmidt, Managing Director of Cidex Trade Fairs Pvt. Ltd, said Interkama India was an offshoot of Interkama, the world's No1 automation fair held in Duesseldorf. Interkama India would showcase products and solutions for industrial automation, process and manufacturing automation and integrated IT solutions. The product line on display would encompass the entire range that was required in this specialised industry segment. The event would have the backing of the US-based Instrumentation Systems and Automation Society (ISA), a very renowned industry association and a leading automation organisation, and ARC advisory group, a Boston-based global strategic consulting company. A highly industry focused conference and a CEO conclave would be organised parallel to the exhibition.
For Interkama 2003, a very high-profile advisory board has been constituted with R Vanamali, Managing Director of Endres + Hauser, as chairman, with several industry leaders as members.
Vanamali, who also addressed the press, said the role of the advisory board would be to guide and advice the organisers on the structure and content of the event. The platform created at Interkama would provide a unique trade and business opportunities for the Industrial Automation industry in India and the sub-continent.
Vanamali said Interkama was the Mecca for automation He said about 35 companies from India and abroad had already confirmed participation at the exhibition and 25 more were expected.
At a time when the global automation market had been growing at a flat rate of 3 %, in India it was one of the fastest growing industrial sectors. India was one of the few countries that offered excellent growth opportunities for global automation companies. The market had the potential to sustain a growth rate, close to 10 per cent.
According to the organisers, Pharma India 2003 would be the first ever attempt to bring about a synergy between the pharma and biotechnology sectors, which were very closely inter-related. The event would project the latest developments / innovations in the pharma industry and showcase the latest products, machinery and services in the industry, for generating business and test marketing. This show is being supported by the Indian Drug Manufacturers' Association (IDMA).
Biotech India International 2003, claims the organizers, would be the perfect platform for this rapidly emerging major market for biotech products to come together and witness the structures and restructures that are taking place in this industry both in India and abroad. An apex advisory board has been constituted under Dr Manju Sharma, Secretary, Department of Biotechnology, for Biotech India International. The Biotech Consortium of India Ltd (BCIL), promoted by the Department of Biotechnology, is sponsoring the show and will be conducting an exclusive conference covering critical areas of both biotechnology and pharma. The Government of Andhra Pradesh is also supporting this show.
