The Bombay-based clinical research organisation ClinWorld (P) Ltd, the clinical research arm of Sami Labs Ltd, is all set to enter tie-ups with two overseas firms to jointly conduct clinical research in India and abroad.
According to the sources, the company is in the process of discussions with an overseas contract research organisation (CRO) and another pharmaceutical and nutraceuticals company. Agreements with both the companies are expected to finalise shortly. As per the proposed agreement, they will jointly conduct bio-availability (BA) and bio-equivalence (BE) studies and Phase I, II and III human trials. Moreover, both the parties will be facilitated to utilize each other's facilities to conduct clinical trials.
Speaking to Pharmabiz, Sameer J Nair, chief operating officer of ClinWorld, said, "We are in the process of discussion with two foreign companies, one is from the US and the other is from Korea. The agreement is expected to be signed in next few months and it will provide us an international platform to conduct clinical trials".
It is also learnt that the company is in discussions with a Japanese firm to conduct trials in India and is also in discussions with an Australian University to jointly conduct clinical trial of a drug for psoriasis. A team from ClinWorld will monitor this joint research activity.
