The Delhi Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research (DIPSAR) has opened a National Drugs and Poison Information Centre (NDPIC) in its premises few weeks ago. The NDPIC is one of the best centers for drug information in the country, Dr S S Agrawal, Principal, DIPSAR said.
According to him, NDPIC has comprehensive data on 70,000 trade names and is being updated on a regular basis. Managed by the post-graduate students of the institute, NDPIC functions through out the week from 8 am to 8 pm.
Dr Agrawal informed that the centre has been receiving calls from both within the state and outside. "After its inauguration by Sheila Dixit, Chief Minister of Delhi on May 4th, we have received hundreds of enquiries from Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi," he said.
The NDPIC gives comprehensive data on any aspects of the drug ie, pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, clinical trials etc. The Government of Delhi has not made any financial commitment for the functioning of the centre as the students do it on voluntary basis.
DIPSAR, formerly Delhi College of Pharmacy, is one of the best pharmacy institutes in India with strength of approximately 500 students. In the highly competitive environment, the Institute is capitalizing on its strength such as academic innovation, comprehensive training, and flexible educational delivery systems. The institute imparts Masters degree in various specialisations like pharmacology, pharmaceutics, hospital pharmacy and quality assurance. It has also been approved by science faculty for starting of new M Pharm courses in pharmaceutical management, pharmaceutical chemistry, pharma regulatory affairs, herbal drug technology and clinical trials and research.
