Emageon has been selected by Allina Hospitals & Clinics to provide its enterprise-class software technology solution to manage the storage and distribution of Allina's radiology and cardiology images throughout its enterprise.

"It was important for Allina to find a business partner with a proven solution that would address the demanding storage and distribution needs of a large delivery system as diverse as Allina," said Joanne Sunquist, VP and Office of the CIO, Allina Hospitals & Clinics. "After having conducted an intense and extensive evaluation process of leading vendors in the marketplace, we concluded that Emageon offered the most comprehensive value proposition. With respect to their technology, it scored well above the other vendors in performance, scalability and commitment to open standards. Additionally, its demonstrated success at other large systems -- as well as its flexible business model -- provided an overall solution that best met Allina's needs."

"As one of the nation's largest and most distributed enterprises, Allina has tremendous experience selecting and deploying large-scale medical IT applications," said Milton Silva-Craig, Emageon's Chief Operating Officer. "Its selection process was a detailed and comprehensive, cross-departmental decision and we are pleased to have been selected as their enterprise imaging infrastructure provider. Allina's decision process reflects a dramatic shift in our industry with respect to how image-value is created. Rather than focusing on imaging departments alone, enterprise-centric imaging buyers are demanding solutions which are committed to recognized standards (IHE, DICOM and HL7), meet the performance and scalability demands of their environment and which can ultimately create image-value for their entire enterprise - not just one or two departments."
