FOGSI, ISRO and Cosme Pharma Laboratories Ltd. get nearer to launch FOGSI - ICOG Satellite School

The Federation of Obstetric and Gynaecological Societies of India (FOGSI) and Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) have joined hands to introduce a satellite based educational programme for medical students and practitioners in the country.

Cosme Farma Laboratories Ltd is supporting this novel academic initiative (CFLL).

Under this private-public partnership endeavour, national and international workshops, CME's, postgraduate courses and conferences in India would be transmitted live to the medical colleges through the ISRO satellite network.

CFLL, Under technical support from ISRO will be installing satellite dishes in 108 municipal and government medical colleges of India. The Indian college of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists will conduct the programmes.

"So far, postgraduate medical students found it difficult to travel for conferences and workshops due to time and financial constraints the satellite school would provide them exposure to teachers and experts from all over the country", said Dr Duru Shah, President of FOGSI.

FOGSI ICOG Satellite School, is being financed by Cosme Farma Laboratories Ltd. and this includes funding for the setting up of the satellite Dishes, transport of faculty to the ISRO studios and local working lunches at the medical colleges.

"Besides, providing quality medicines, we will also support dissemination of value added academics. It would be our endeavour to provide medical students an access to latest treatment methodologies, which in turn will assist them to provide the best medical services to the people of India", said PR.
