The Chennai-based Frontier Lifeline Private Limited, promoted by the world-renowned cardiac surgeon Dr. K M Cherian, has tied up with Cholayil Sanjeevanam, a division of the Cholayil Pharmaceutical Private limited, to provide ayurvedic, yoga and naturopathic treatments to patients admitted at Frontier.

Further, Sanjeevanam will soon start a full-fledged nature cure centre at Sree Ramachandra Medical College (SRMC), Porur, Chennai.

The tie-up between Frontier and Sanjeevanam is claimed to be the first of its kind ever, to experiment joint ayurvedic and allopathic treatments in pre-and postoperative care for patients undergoing complicated heart surgeries.

Disclosing the development to Pharmabiz, Dr A V Anoop, director, Cholayil Pharmaceutical Private limited said, an MoU in this regard was signed with Dr. K M Cherian on 10th of November, and the treatment process was started a week ago. The present MoU is valid for one year and will be renewed after one year.

"The MoU is a good advertisement for our ISM sector, as a person like Dr. Cherian has come forward to integrate our capabilities in pre and post operative care for even complicated heart surgeries," said Anoop.

A team of doctors and masseurs from Sanjeevanam will condition the patients to get ready for the surgery, and also would assist the treatment process during the post-operative period. While painful physiotherapy is the lone option for many patients during the post operative treatment normally, the tie-up will help to try Kerala's many centuries old Panchakarma treatment method for faster relief. Further, the patients will be encouraged to follow the nature food prepared by medical experts at Sanjeevanam's Kadalivanam restaurant.

Mainly, Sanjeevanam will provide four treatments, Pranayama, Yogic exercises, Yogic Meditation and Ayurvedic massage. Paranayama involves breathing techniques to normalize and stabilize breathing pattern, respiratory rhythm and function after surgery. While yogic exercises and stretching methods relaxes muscles and joints after prolonged anesthesia and ICU period, meditation relaxes and calms the mind and body after the cardiac surgical procedure. The Ayurvedic massage would relax and strengthen the muscles, besides improving blood circulation, elaborated Anoop.

He added, "Sanjeevanam would soon start a full-fledged centre at the Sree Ramachandra Medical College, with the same concept. SRMC would provide infrastructure and Sanjeevanam would run the centre."
