Guru Nanak Hospital plans new dialysis centre, larger ICU in coming year
The 125-bedded Guru Nanak Hospital situated in the western suburbs of Mumbai is planning a major upgradation of its services during the next financial year in a bid raise its revenue levels.
Beginning with the expansion of bed capacity from the current 125 beds to 150 beds, the Hospital would be starting work on a new dialysis centre, upgrading the ICU unit including the pediatric ICU, casualty, physiotherapy department and laboratory upgradation. While the hospital has earmarked these projects to be done in phases, work has already been started on building a new dental centre, adding a new CT scanner and providing for a blood storage centre.
Apart from the upgradation plans, the hospital would also be looking at strengthening its manpower skills and improving patient care by providing enhanced protocols both in the clinical and administrative fields.
The hospital has fixed December 2003 as the deadline for completion of the above work and would be sanctioning close to Rs 5 crore from the hospital contingency fund.
"With the occupancy rate at a steady 65 - 70 per cent and with a rise in the number of out patients visiting the hospital, the management board in consultation with the doctors decided to add and upgrade the hospitals with new departments and latest technology, all for the welfare of the patients", says Brigadier S K Chaddha, CEO of the hospital.
According to him, apart from technical upgradation, emphasis would also be laid on enhancing the clinical and administrative skills among the hospital personnel.
Amidst the enhancement plans, the hospital would be seeking to alter internal changes to its laundry department, derive plans for developing the horticulture around the hospital and also take help from one of the leading hospitals from the city for complete computerization of the hospital.
