The Indian Drug Manufacturers’ Association (IDMA) will organize a one-day seminar on spurious drugs titled, ‘Spurious Drugs — A Pernicious Health Hazard’ on Saturday, February 21 2004 in Mumbai. The seminar intends to help eradicate the menace of spurious drugs and educate members of the hazards, said Dara Patel, secretary-general, IDMA.

The menace of spurious drugs has reached a dangerous high and is posing a serious threat to the health scenario in the country, thereby putting the life of our population at grave risk. The pharma industry is losing millions of rupees of revenue both in terms of turnover domestically, and also at the export front. India’s reputation in the international arena is at stake, in addition to losing valuable foreign exchange, said Patel.

Speakers will cover various facets of spurious drug menace — its genesis, magnitude, pernicious hazards to health and measures to counteract this speedily.
