International workshop on clinical trials at H’bad on Aug 5-6, 2005

Transworld Group is organising its first international workshop in India in coordination with Pharmexcil and Indian Pharmaceutical Association-AP State Branch on August 5 and 6, 2005 at Taj Residency, Hyderabad.

The workshop will cover the national and international regulatory framework for clinical research, different phases of clinical development, ethics of human subject research, confidentiality in context of research and roles of different stakeholders in clinical trials. The mechanics of trial conduct and pre and post trial activities will also be discussed.

Role of important documents such as informed consent, study protocol and study records would be highlighted. The meet will discuss the importance of statistics in trial design, in addition to current opportunities and challenges in conducting trials in India.

There will be interactive sessions during the course of the workshop. The workshop also aims at bringing together the regulatory authorities and the clinical research organizations to discuss and evolve a common consensus in the smooth professional conduct of clinical trials while adhering to GCP and make India as a preferred destination for global clinical trials.

The faculty includes Raj Pradhan, associate director, Abbott Laboratories, USA; Charles Pierce, vice-president, North America Medical Affairs, Harrison Clinical Research Group, Munich, Germany; Laura Williams, Global Therapeutic Area Head, Abbott Laboratories; Balakrishna Hosmane, professor of statistics, Northern Illinois University, USA; and Venkateshwarlu, deputy drugs controller (India), West Zone.

Clinical research organizations, clinical research associates and clinical data coordinators, pharma companies, scientists, doctors and pharmacists are likely to attend the workshop.
