Looking to grab a major chunk of the fast growing life sciences market of India through a proven market network, 1.8billion dollar global leader Invitrogen Corporation of USA has entered into tie-up with Imperial Life Sciences Pvt Ltd to roll out their products.

Both companies have signed an agreement for marketing and distribution of entire range of Invitrogen research and bio-production products in the Indian market.

``We had some ties with a few dealers so far to sell our products in bits and pieces. As India is fast emerging as a world hub and taking account its huge potential, we have tied up with Imperial Sciences, which has a well-established network, for effective penetration,'' Dr Ben Hwang, the Invitrogen Corporation senior director Asia Pacific, said.

Invitrogen Corporation develops and manufactures high quality products from Genome exploration to protein analysis, and all the discovery stages in-between. With the acquisition of major industry players like GIBCO, Molecular Probes, DYNAL BIOTECH, ZYMED, BIOSOURCsE and CALTAG, Invitrogen today has become worldwide leader providing outstanding products and services that advance Life-Sciences/Biotech discovery.

Imperial Life Sciences (formerly known as Imperial Bio-Medics), based at Gurgaon is a fast growing bio-supplier company with a track record of 17 years.

``There were lots of complaints from CROs and scientists in India about the availability of products for research in time. We hope to fill this gap through this tie-up,'' said ILS president Anand Gupta.

``We hope that the logistics of the Indian partner will allow Invitrogen to truly serve the scientific community in a world-class manner. Each scientist is working on any discipline like molecular biology, bio production, stem cells, cell biology, immunology etc,'' he said.

``We are having an R&D centre in Bangalore with 27 scientists since the last two years as part of the world network. We will double the number of scientists and investment soon, " said Invitrogen BioServices India Pvt Ltd managing director Uday Mathrubutham.
