IPA with ACG Worldwide & SciTech calls for entries of awards

The Indian Pharmaceutical Association (IPA), ACG Worldwide (ACG) & SciTech have collaborated to recognize the best innovations in the development and packaging of Solid Dosage Forms of the year. They have instituted the IPA-ACG Innovation in Solid Dosage Form Awards for the second year.

It has now called for entries from the Indian pharma industry, pharmacy colleges, research centres and promising start-up companies to submit their novel developments before the last date of submission of nomination - March 7, 2016.

The awards are to recognize best innovations in ‘The Development of Solid Dosage Form in Pharmaceuticals’ and in ‘The Packaging of Pharmaceuticals’, said Kaushik Desai, general secretary, Indian Pharmaceutical Association.

There are two categories for the awards: Best Innovative Solid Dosage Form of the year which carries a cash prize of Rs. 1,00,000 with a memento. The other is for Best Innovative Packaging for the Indian Market also with a cash prize of Rs. 100,000 and a memento.

The objective of these awards are to recognize outstanding contributions in the development of solid dosage forms and promote innovations in packaging of solid oral dosage forms. Therefore the selection criteria mandated that the development should be innovative and creative. The innovation should be fundamental yet practical. The nominee should provide characteristic features of the innovative Solid Dosage Form, along with documentary evidence for its stability and uniqueness. The innovation should address an unmet scientific need related to Indian population, like for instance benefit a disease condition or meet special demands of the region, according to the organisers.

For the Best Innovative Packaging of the year for a Solid Dosage Form, should possess unique features. The packaging should be innovative with creativity. The nominee should provide the characteristic features of the packaging. The suggestive or implemented packaging system should increase the quality of medicine for better therapeutic benefits. The documentary evidence should be provided to prove that the medicinal product remains stable for the expected shelf life mentioned on the label in new package.

The criteria for nomination is available on www.ipapharma.org  The participants are expected to submit entries on via hard copy of the nominations for the awards to The Member Secretary, IPA ACG- SciTech Awards Committee, Indian Pharmaceutical Association, Kalina, Santacruz (East), Mumbai - 400 098.
