ISO 9001:2000 quality certification for Sir.Ivan Stedford Hospital

Sir Ivan Stedford Hospital, located at Ambattur near Chennai, has been accorded with ISO 9001:2000 quality certificate by Bureau Veritas Quality International (BVQI), London.

The certification was awarded to M.V. Murugappan, Managing Trustee of the AMM Foundation by R.R. Rao, Regional Head of BVQI at a function held in Chennai, in the presence of Dr Alphonse Selvaraj, Deputy Director of Health Services and Dr P I Meyyappan, Director of Sir Ivan Stedford Hospital, according to hospital sources.

The 200 bed hospital multi-specialty hospital, started in 1996 by the AMM Foundation on a non-profit basis, serves the medical requirements of numerous people in and around Ambattur. The hospital offers treatment to over three lakh outpatients and 6000 inpatients every year, besides performing over 3000 surgeries annually.

The hospital has adopted around 40 villages in and around Ambattur and has introduced a master healthcare programme for poor patients, said sources.

According to MV Murugappan, Managing Trustee of the AMM Foundation, the certification was a milestone for the hospital in its endeavour to offer quality healthcare to poor and needy villagers in the area. The hospital, equipped with state of the art technology, equipments and professionals, would continue more on the quality based service in treating patients, said the Managing Trustee.
