The Kovai Medical Centre and Hospital (KMCH), one of the most modern tertiary care hospital in Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu, is investing Rs 80 crore for expansion of its beds capacity by additional 250 beds. The total bed capacity after the propose expansion will go up to 1000 beds in next 2-3 years.
Talking to Pharmabiz, K C Ramaswami, director, said, "The Group has already invested Rs 10 crore for acquiring the land. The beds capacity of the hospital is 750 but we are doing further expansion with the adding of 250 beds in the same hospital. The project is expected to be complete in another 2-3 years. Currently, the strength of the doctors is 50, but in the future it will reach to nearly 90. "
The KMCH is well equipped with most modern equipments like CT scanner, angiography equipment with DSA, operating microscope, mammography, C-arm, color doppler etc. The hospital is also ready to offer Image Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT) to its patients. IGRT uses a linear accelerator, equipped with a kilo voltage-imaging source and solid state X-ray detector. Linear accelerator (LINAC) is the device used for external beam radiation treatments for patients with cancer. It delivers a uniform dose of high-energy x-ray to the region of the patient's tumour. These x-rays can destroy the cancer cells while sparing the surrounding normal tissue.
The Hospital has two satellite medical centres at Ramnagar and Perundurai. With the super-speciality procedures like coronary bypass surgeries, coranary angioplasty, stent implantation, laproscopic and vascular surgeries, Hip and knee replacements, kidney transplants, complex neuro surgeries are regularly done at our hospital.
KMCH is recognised by National Board of Examinations for training DNB in general surgery, orthopaedic surgery, cardiothoracic surgery, cardiology, anaesthesiology, obstetrics and gynaecology. It is recognised by the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh to train AFRCS candidates. It also offers graduate and post-graduate paramedical courses in Physiotherapy and nursing, graduate courses in Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, Occupational therapy and Nursing.
Talking about future plans for the establishing of hospitals across the India Ramaswami, said, "We already have our branches in Perundurai and Erode at Tamilnadu, and also willing to set up new hospitals in the other regions of the country."
